Go for an advanced driving course and see what happens when certain things get done to a car. Not saying this is a game that aims for realism, but starting a race 20 times or more in a row is getting really old now... and dont think changing your car will help with these things. The opponents tap a small corner of a car -> you end up in a flat spin and cant do♥♥♥♥♥♥about it. You hit an obstacle slightly wrong, you wont deflect, you will spin out. I dunno seems strange to me.Fun arcade game when you get the correct track settings after restarting the race 20 times.♥♥♥♥ this♥♥♥♥♥♥ now all the enemies shoot at you 400m before the finish line and you encounter some random bump on the road when you are upside down that knocks you from first to 9th. Respawn point place you at the back of the group cause you flew off into the distance since the forced respawn is implemented like♥♥♥♥♥♥at times.. Ahh where do i begin. Welcome to GRIP! A blast from the past. Grew up with Rollcage in my younger years so i guess my review might be a little biased, but ill be as honest as i can. Grip is basically rocket league and death race had a baby (just without a soccer ball although it would be funny in arena to add that in), not to mention they might have not told you that the roll car had a F/A 18 jet strapped to the back of it breaking the sound barrier. The game play is very dynamic and fast paced, while that might make it sound hard, the mechanics are fairly simple in the varying modes it offers ranging from race to win, destroy opponents to win (both with ultimate race), and of course a time trial mode so you can just spam the boost buttons and let the vehicle experience that ever lasting speed vortex. It has a tutorial that is great to start off with leading into the campaign and other modes like multiplayer (although i do suggest you try and get a few tiers of the campaign done before hopping onto multiplayer as the skill of players varies from server to server at different times of the day. So now with that said, I'm going to run through the pros and cons of this game. Pros:* Stunning graphics, especially on ultra (would recommend a fairly decent graphics card for this one, but most 4gb cards would do the job on medium to high settings)* Dynamic game play, spontaneous. You never get the same game twice. Sometimes i feel like the AI on difficulties learns your play style so you have to change it up, which helps when playing multiplayer. * Customisation - for all your different tyres, skins and decals, there's plenty to make sure your vehicle stands out from the rest as they eat your dust* Soundtrack full of drum and bass goodies which are sure to keep you fired up in a fast type of game play (although you can also play your own music which is pretty sweet)Cons - Now while i have cons about the game, they are quite minor and are just bugs or little hangups that the developers are pretty switched on to fixing* The Music jukebox plays the same track for the whole race, will get a bit boring unless youre an avid fan of drum and bass and can just listen to drum machines on end while you pulverise your victims with an assortment of firearms.* Occasionally you will fly out of the map, but this is usually the 1 percent of the time where you wondered, how did that happen, oh that's right i reached MACH 1 going 1300kph and hit a wall that didn't render yet.Neutral - Multiplayer is still an ongoing test, would love to see more players come on a play. Always welcome to join the grip discord server and add to a growing base of indie racers. Despite the cons, i still recommend this game, and im thankful that some of the original content was imagined into making a more current game with all the tech that's currently available. I do look forward to more updates and ideas from the growing community that makes GRIP.. I really wish I could give this game a better score because GRIP is really close to being excellent! So, let's go over some positives first, because there is more of that than there are negatives, which will follow later.Positives:+ The game is an amazing spiritual successor to the Rollcage games (obviously). The concept of a double-sided and fast-paced combat racing game is pulled off really nicely.+ The graphics are quite good all around, while not being too taxing for most systems.+ The campaign is lengthy and there's a variety of modes and tracks to race in. Only towards the end do you start seeing the same tracks again, but that happens with most racing games.+ The visual design and sound design of the world and the cars is on point. The five manufacturers are all distinct and each have three cars suitable for different racing styles and needs. So that's all well and good, and are all tied to general game things. Despite this, I feel I must point out the negatives because there's an unfortunate amount of them.Negatives:- The physics engine. I understand that creating a proper system for a game like this is tough, but sometimes you just get flinged off for no reason when hitting terrain, or you lose control when hitting a tiny barrel. The carkour stages especially seem to completely have their own bizarre rules for gravity, which suggests that the physics is tied heavily into the overall stage design.- Camera. This links to the above problem. About 90% of the time the camera follows you well enough, but the 10% it can fling around weirdly trying to figure out where it should be. The lack of substantial camera controls adds to this issue.- Lack of polish. The game still suffers from it. For example, the game does not want to save the second player's car settings when playing splitscreen on a console. There are several completely missing manual entries for tracks, and the entries themselves can have glitched out characters for something as simple as an apostrophe. - The city stages suffer I think from a lack of visual distinction. The track layouts are rather good on the desert, the snow and the jungle, but in the city no matter the time of day everything seems to just blend together into a gray mess. The indicators of available/unavailable paths are not clear enough to be easily seen until the last few moments a lot of the time.- A nitpick, but the soundtrack is not very memorable. As someone who has played the Wipeout games a lot, good music can really add to a game, but the songs in this game all sound very repetitive, both on their own and when compared to each other. This review reflects my mixed feelings with the game. However, despite all of the negatives points listed, I still do feel this game is at the 6-7/10 league, and definitely worth playing for those looking for something fast-paced, raw and fun. It's an intense combat racing game with a good deal of variety, and simply suffers in some areas from a lack of polish and detail, some things I hope the developers will look into through patches or otherwise.. Now THIS is podracing!!!!. Good game but a bit too challenging.Everything about this game is good, driving, music, action etc. However when you drive with 1000km/h into an obstacle or fall off the course you loose too many places, especially if some AI ram you off into the same pit again. this is frustrating since one tiny error means you loose. Something the devs might want to look upon.A valuable addition could be more customisation (parts) on the vehicles. I'm very happy with this game. Now this is pod racing!
